Background
Alemtuzumab significantly improved clinical and MRI outcomes vs. subcutaneous interferon beta-1a (SC IFNB-1a) in the CARE-MS trials (NCT00530348, NCT00548405), with sustained efficacy in 2 consecutive extensions (NCT00930553, NCT02255656 [TOPAZ]).
Measurable Residual Disease Assessment and Allogeneic Transplantation as Consolidation Therapy in Adult Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in Colombia. Clin Lymphoma Myeloma Leuk.
Combariza JF, Arango M, Díaz L, et al. 14/11/2020
Abstract
Detectable minimal residual disease (MRD) after therapy for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the strongest predictor of hematologic relapse. The objective of the study was to assess disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) of patients with ALL according with MRD status at the end of induction therapy in a Colombian population.
Incidence and Prognostic Significance of High-Risk Cytogenetically Abnormalities in Multiple Myeloma Patients in Colombia. Clin Lymphoma Myeloma Leuk.
Peritonal carcinomatosis after minimally invasive surgery versusopen radical hysterectomy: systematic review and meta-analysis. Int J Gynecol Cancer.
Viveros-Carreño D 5/12/2022
Objective To assess the incidence of peritoneal carcinomatosis in patients undergoing minimally invasive or open radical hysterectomy for cervical cancer.
Conclusion Minimally invasive surgery is associated with a statistically significant higher risk of peritoneal carcinomatosis after radical hysterectomy for cervical cancer compared with open surgery.
Preoperative brachytherapy for early-stage cervical cancer: Systematic review and meta-analysis. Gynecol Oncol. 2022 Nov
Viveros-Carreño D. 29/11/2022
Objective
To assess the rate of pathological response rate, and the oncological outcomes of preoperative brachytherapy (PBT) in early-stage cervical cancer.
Conclusion
Preoperative brachytherapy in patients with early-stage cervical cancer could improve pathologic and oncologic outcomes, but it should be assessed in high-quality randomized controlled trials before its implementation in clinical practice.
Prenatal cytogenetic diagnosis: results obtained in the specialized laboratory of Clínica Universitaria Colombia from 2013 to 2019. J Matern Fetal Neonatal Med.
López Rivera JJ, Zapata Arizabaleta M, Carrillo YD, Gualdron López O. 01/09/2021
Objective
Prenatal cytogenetic evaluation is a key tool for identifying alterations in pregnant women with high risk for fetal chromosomal abnormalities (CA). In Colombia, there are not large-scale reports about the prevalence and pattern of CA in prenatal cytogenetic analysis.
Conclusion
In Colombia, the invasive prenatal cytogenetic analysis continues being an important diagnostic tool available for pregnant women with high risk for fetal CA.
Incidence of lymph node metastasis in early-stage low-grade serous ovarian cancer: a systematic review. Int J Gynecol Cancer.
Viveros-Carreño D. 13/07/2022
Objective The objective of this systematic review was to assess the incidence of lymph node metastasis in patients with clinically presumed early-stage low-grade serous ovarian cancer that underwent primary surgical treatment.
Conclusion In patients with early-stage low-grade serous ovarian cancer, lymph node assessment should be discussed when counseling for primary surgical staging.
