"Multiple sclerosis care units in Latin America: Consensus recommendations about its objectives and functioning implementation. J Neurol Sci."

Enviado por remote_content el

"Objective Currently, there are several reasons to promote worldwide the concept of multiple sclerosis care units (MSCU) for a better management of affected patients. Ideally, the MSCU should have some human and technical resources that distinguish and improve the care of affected patients; however, local, and regional aspects should be considered when recommending how these units should operate. The objective of these consensus recommendations was to review how MSCU should work in Latin America to improve long-term outcomes in MS patients.

"A Comprehensive Machine Learning Framework for the Exact Prediction of the Age of Onset in Familial and Sporadic Alzheimer's Disease. Diagnostics (Basel)."

Enviado por remote_content el

"Abstract Machine learning (ML) algorithms are widely used to develop predictive frameworks. Accurate prediction of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) age of onset (ADAOO) is crucial to investigate potential treatments, follow-up, and therapeutic interventions. Although genetic and non-genetic factors affecting ADAOO were elucidated by other research groups and ours, the comprehensive and sequential application of ML to provide an exact estimation of the actual ADAOO, instead of a high-confidence-interval ADAOO that may fall, remains to be explored.

"Prognostic significance of telomerase reverse transcriptase promoter gen mutations in high grade meningiomas. Biomedica. "

Enviado por remote_content el

"Abstract Mutations in the promoter region of telomerase reverse transcriptase occur frequently in meningiomas. Objective: To estimate the prognostic importance of telomerase reverse transcriptase mutations in Colombian patients with grades II and III meningioma. Materials and methods: This was a multicenter retrospective cohort study of patients diagnosed with refractory or recurrent WHO grades II and III meningiomas, recruited between 2011 and 2018, and treated with systemic therapy (sunitinib, everolimus ± octreotide, and bevacizumab).

"Radiofrequency Treatment of Iliac and Paravertebral Cluneal Nerves for Low Back Pain. Pain Physician."

Enviado por remote_content el

"Background Paravertebral cluneal nerves are constrained within a tunnel consisting of the thoracolumbar fascia and the iliac crest's superior rim as they pass over the iliac crest. Their involvement in low back pain has not been presented previously.

Objective: To develop a diagnostic and therapeutic protocol for radiofrequency ablation of paravertebral and iliac cluneal trigger points.

Diaz A. Quantitative sensory testing: a good tool to identify subclinical neuropathy in ATTRV30M amyloidosis patients? Amyloid.

Enviado por remote_content el

"Background Quantitative sensory testing (QST) has been one of the neurophysiological tools used for follow-up and disease progression assessment in ATTRv amyloidosis. We aimed to detect the utility of QST in identifying subclinical neuropathic involvement in ATTRV30M amyloidosis carriers.

Conclusions QST, in particular CDT, HP 5 and HP 0.5 modalities, seems a good tool to identify subclinical neuropathy in ATTRv amyloidosis carriers, with CDT showing a higher sensitivity to detect and early neuropathic involvement."

"Frequency of NMOSD misdiagnosis in a cohort from Latin America: Impact and evaluation of different contributors. Mult Scler. 2022 Dec"

Enviado por remote_content el

"Background: Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) misdiagnosis (i.e. the incorrect diagnosis of patients who truly have NMOSD) remains an issue in clinical practice. We determined the frequency and factors associated with NMOSD misdiagnosis in patients evaluated in a cohort from Latin America.

Conclusions: NMOSD misdiagnosis is relatively frequent in Latin America (12%). Misapplication and misinterpretation of clinical and neuroradiological findings are relevant factors associated with misdiagnosis."

L-Dopa response, choreic dyskinesia, and dystonia in Perry syndrome. Parkinsonism Relat Disord.

Enviado por remote_content el

"Abstract

A marked response to L-Dopa and L-Dopa-induced dyskinesia (LID) make the diagnosis of Parkinson's disease (PD) highly likely. This paper evaluates response to L-Dopa in Perry syndrome (PS), parkinsonism with distinct molecular and neuropathologic characteristics.

Conclusions

Patients with PS may present PD-like parkinsonism with a marked and sustained response to L-Dopa and LID. The characteristic pattern of craniocervical dystonia may be a helpful clue to the diagnosis of PS."
